Message Template


You will need to prepare the phishing message in order to launch a phishing campaign.

  1. Login using your username and the associated password.
  2. From the side menu, select Templates.


In this article, we will discuss how you can create: 

  • Email Template.

  • SMS Templates.

  • Uploading attachments, to be tracked in your campaign messages.

    1. Email Template

 An email template can be created in two ways, one is writing the email template as HTML or Text, second is by importing an email.

  • If you want to write the email template as HTML or Text :

  1. Click on New Template button [1] .
  2. In the New Template window [2], enter a name to distinguish this template in the list of templates in the library.
  3. If you want to Import an email template, follow the import instructions in the next section. Then you can follow the the rest of the steps in this list.
  4. Enter the email subject as it will be visible to email receivers.
  5. Enter the email content as HTML or Text, kindly notice that we allow a wide number of options for the email content, such as: HTML code, Copy and paste from docs, and as Text. and customize it using the editor.
  6. Add an image to the content using Drag and Drop, or by clicking the image button in the editor and upload a new image by locating it in your device, or by browsing the server to use the images you uploaded previously.
  7. Use our predefined variables such as {{.FirstName}} [3], which will be substituted with the target information and values upon sending the email.
  8. Select the category, the complexity, and the language of the template. 
  9. Check tracking images, so that we will be able to track whether the phishing email has opened.
  10. To send an email with a trackable attachment, check the Add Trackable Attachment box and select the attachment you want to be added and tracked.
  11. Click Save Template.

  • If you want to import an email template to use it as your template:

There are two options to import an email: The first is import the MIME Message Format. The second is to import the email as Source HTML. Each of them is discussed below.

Note: selecting the wrong option for the type of the source that you have will output wrong parsing of the message, or throw error.

    MIME Message Format 

  1. Go to the email you want to import, and select Show Original or View Message Source [5]. This option should display the message headers along with the original email content, Copy the original/source.
  2. In PhishGuard > the New Template window, click the Import Email button.
  3. Select the Email With Message Headers option, and paste the original/source in the text box.
  4. Check the "Change Links to Point to Landing Page" if you want to change all the 
    <a  href="someLink";> 

    to be pointing at the domain and landing page you will set later in the Campaign Launching process.

  5. click Import

    Source HTML


For some Email clients, the option of Show Original/ View Message Source may be disabled, the only way left to import an email is to view the email source as HTML source. This option displays the Email source as HTML page starts with <html> tag. 

  1. Go to the email you want to import, and select View Source [6]. This option should show the HTML source of the message -without Email Headers- only an HTML page starting with <html> tag. Copy the source.
  2. In PhishGuard > the New Template window, click the Import Email button.
  3. Select the Source HTML option, and paste the HTML source in the text box. 
  4. Check the "Change Links to Point to Landing Page" if you want to change all the 
    <a  href="someLink";> 

    to be pointing at the domain and landing page you will set later in the Campaign Launching process.

  5. click Import.

 2. SMS Templates


SMS template can be created either in Arabic or English, to do so:

  1. Click on SMS templates tab, then click New Template button [7] .
  2. In the New Template window [8], enter a name to distinguish this template in the list of templates in the library.
  3. Enter the message content using one language, Arabic or English.
  4. Use our predefined variables such as {{.FirstName}} [3] , which will be substituted with the target information and values upon sending the message.
  5. Select the category, the complexity, and the language of the template.
  6. Click Save Template.

 3. Attachments

 We provide several types of attachment files that you can add to your messages. we provide .xls .xlsm .doc .docm .pptm 

To use one of these files;

  1. Click on Attachments tab, then download the attachment template of the file that you need.
  2. Enter the content that you need in the downloaded file, and rename the file to be consistent with the content.  
  3. Click Upload Attachment button [9], then locate the file that has the content.
  4. The attachment file will be added to the list of attachments.


You may notice a corrupted image icon in your template as in figure [10] .We set it on purpose and we use it for tracking the document, kindly leave it as it is.
